Odyssey electives help students explore their interests and build the skills to succeed academically and personally as they enter the 21st century workforce. Odyssey High School electives can help students complete the credits required to graduate while deepening their understanding of the world that surrounds them.
Public Speaking
Our lecture-based program inspires students to learn about what makes great speakers so compelling — and then teaches them to apply these characteristics as they learn to structure, write, and deliver their own speeches. This course features virtual lectures by award-winning professors who present advanced material in a stimulating, engaging style and includes video tutorials, comprehensive lecture notes, interactive exercises, and real-life applications of concepts studied.
Health*
Every day, students make choices that affect their physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Odyssey High School Health provides students the opportunity to acquire knowledge of overall health and its many facets, practice life skills, and develop attitudes that can benefit them throughout their lives. This course is based on current information from leading national health organizations.
Economics with Personal Finance*
In this course, students have the opportunity to study the principles of production, consumption, and distribution of goods and services on small and large scales. They also examine the factors that influence financial decisions while helping them build critical 21st Century Skills.
Earth/Space Science
Designed for high school juniors and seniors, Odyssey High School Earth/Space Science builds on science competencies that students have already mastered and covers topics from the history of the universe and the Earth to modern science. Students are exposed to concepts and skills from geology, astronomy, oceanography, and atmospheric science, as well as other disciplines.
World Geography
In Odyssey High School World Geography, students study people, places, and environments with local, regional, national, and international perspectives. They will learn to identify the processes that influence political divisions, analyze how different points of view affect public policy priorities, and learn the effects of technology and human modifications on the physical environment.
